The Oxford Hotel

We have recently completed a two storey, 72 bedroom extension and pre conference and conference facility on The Oxford Hotel, Jury’s Inn.

The building boasts a high standard of internal finishes, both to rooms and conference facilities alike, including specialist wall coverings depicting Oxford’s industrial history, and 24 executive suite rooms.

The project team collaborated excellently to ensure that the building was completed within a year and was open for the pre-Christmas season 2016.

Charity Updates

Since September 2016 we have held Charity events including a Macmillan coffee morning, a bake off for Children In Need and a select group in the office took part in Movember to support research into Prostate and Testicular cancer. We have raised just under £1,000 for charity!

Knowles also did the annual donation of Christmas Trees to various care homes and schools around Oxfordshire. We had fantastic feedback and the recipients were very pleased, especially the children from Stephen Freeman Primary School.

Oxfordshire Museum Completion Resized

We have recently completed a project for Carillion which involved structural works to The Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock. The works included the removal of existing fixtures and fittings, intrusive removal of the internal fabric of the building to access structural elements in need of repair/replacement, reinstatement of the fabric and various internal alterations to the layout of the building.

Well done to Site Manager Chris Farrands and his team on the successful completion of the project.

Concrete Pour resized

Denefield School Concrete Pour

Works started at Denefield School in Reading at the beginning of February to construct a single storey extension to an existing canteen block. Works will also include the refurbishment of the kitchen area and canteen including new flooring , decorations and ceiling works.

The site was visited by a class of nursery school children who braved the cold weather to watch the concrete pour with bacon sandwiches and a flask of tea.

Christ Church College – Peckwater Quad

Continuing our long standing relationship with Christ Church College we are currently on site at Peckwater Quad. This prestigious site is special to Knowles as it was originally built by William Townsend between 1706 & 1711. Knowles took over the business from the Townsend family in 1797. Now eight generations and 219 year later Knowles are on site at the Quad to carry out a full refurbishment of staircases 6,7 & 8.
